Things to do

Torchlit descent - Savoy party

For an evening you'll not forget in a hurry you simply must try the torchlit descent from the Arpette restaurant above Arc 1800. Head to the restaurant as the lifts are closing and you'll be treated to an evening Savoy party with raclette, a vin chuad and a bottle of wine each, followed by music and dancing. The evenings entertainment is rounded off in spectacular fashion with a flaming torchlit descent safely back to the resort under the watchful eyes of ESF. This evening is held just once per week in the winter season and is extremely popular, so book early to avoid disappointment. Absolutely not to be missed!

Night skiing

Night skiing - Les ArcsWhen the sun goes down, try something a little different on the senses and ski in the dark... well almost... you'll have the stars and a few thousand watts for company. Night skiing, available in Les Arcs is free of charge and open to all on 3 floodlit pistes during the winter season, subject to snow conditions.

Ice cave

Ice Cave - Les ArcsAt the top of the Transarc gondola available from Arc 1800, discover a magical themed cave carved straight out of the snow and ice.

Over in La Plagne, at the summit of Bellecôte, on the Glacier De La Chiaupe (3417m), not only will you find incredible views of the valleys all around, but also the most serene fairytale ice cave for you to explore. The kids will love it, and there's a guarantee of no abominable snow creatures lurking within.

Bobsleigh

Bobsleigh - La PlagneThis is the only place in France where you can hurtle down a 1.5km Olympic bobsleigh run, with a speed record of 134km/h. Three bob options are available.

  • The 'mono-bob' travelling reclined at more than 90km/h.
  • The 'bob-raft', 4 people racing together at 80km/h.
  • The 'taxi-bob' steered by a professional driver, reaching almost 110km/h and pulling 3.5G.

Beat the clock - the "Flying K"

The Flying K - Les ArcsThe Olympic high-speed ski run in Arc 2000 is open to anyone aged 7 and over. A rare opportunity to ski straight down the fall line on a piste with no obstacles, as fast as you can (or dare, more like). The record to beat is 251.4km/h for men and 242.59km/h for women, and 222.22km/h on a bike of all things! Pretty damn speedy/stupid (cross out as you feel appropriate) by anyones standards. Every year this piste hosts two major speed skiing events, the French KL Championship and the World Pro Speed Skiing Tour. More details available from www.sports-lesarcs.com.
